Is protein really a ketosis killer? It’s arguably one of the most important macros, but too much of it can sabotage your efforts of reaching ketosis. Our bodies require protein to build and rebuild all of our soft tissues. However, for every 100g of protein we eat, half of it can be converted to glucose. So by eating more than you need, the excess will be converted to glucose – which is no good for ketosis.
It’s hard to shake the perception that a high-fat diet could be good for you. However, it’s something you need to embrace if you’re going keto. Because of the unique biochemical response your body has to dietary fat, it’s highly improbable that you can eat too much of it. That said, the ketogenic diet isn’t just about eating buckets of fat – it has to be the right kind. Generally, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are the best kind. Avoid vegetable and seeds oils – these are sure to disrupt your state of ketosis.
Like we’ve said previously, going keto is a lifestyle change – not something you can switch on and off like a light switch. If you think you can go on a ketogenic diet, lose a few kilograms then go back to normal, think again. Ketosis takes time, effort and most of all patience, but it’s worth it!

Before your keto days, it was only natural to eat breakfast in the morning, a lunchtime meal at noon, and dinner after dark, right? Given ketosis turns your bodies operating system on its head, it’s important that you start listening to your body. If you’re not hungry, don’t eat. If you are hungry but it’s at a weird time, eat anyway!
